Get those basics down with Tākaro! Numbers, Shapes & Colours
Ngā tau, ngā āhua, ngā tae - numbers, shapes, and colours in te reo Māori. A brilliant starting point for younger tamariki, and a great complement to the Original for anyone building on the basics.
Each card displays a selection of symbols, each with a direct Māori translation that players will learn and memorise.
During play, players flip over two cards and race to identify the matching symbols. The first player to correctly call out the associated Māori translation wins the round.
By the end of play, players will be able to confidently recall a range of symbols and their corresponding Te Reo Māori translations, helping to broaden and strengthen their vocabulary.

We are a blended family, partner is Maori however cannot speak it. We bought this along with the original game and emotions. We thought by stating off with colours and numbers it’ll be easier. By the end of a round my family went from no Maori words to at least 5! What a fun way to pick up basic words. We haven’t tried the other versions yet because family want to master all the words in this one first.

I have been on my te reo journey this year enrolling in level 1-2 with te Wānanga o Aotearoa. This kēmu helped a lot, it’s fun and also helped me to learn new kupu. My daughters beat me but im getting better.

I love the idea, and will likely buy again as it makes for a really nice present. Only issue is I ordered the Numbers, Shapes & Colours edition and received the emotions and feelings one instead. I specifically picked the numbers one because I tought it'd be more approachable for somebody who's not got any background in te reo
Great wee game. simple enough to pick up, yet repetition and competition are great ways to get the old noggin to remember the words and pronunciation!

Great experience for my children in my class. I am going to be using it with parents later in the term. It has helped my nga akonga learn new shapes and colours and kupu. So they can use it in the classroom and outside of the classroom.
With just 2 of us although there is still completion. What I really like is taking the time to practice both words each hand.
